Mei was 58 when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Before that, she had built a meaningful life as a gynaecologist in China, caring for women and families. Later, she and her husband moved to Australia to be closer to their daughter and begin a new chapter.

It was during this time that the changes started. Her left arm stopped swinging. Simple tasks became slower and harder. Buttons, steps, everyday movements - things most of us never think about - required focus and effort.

At first, Mei quietly adapted. But Parkinson’s is progressive, and over time, daily life became increasingly exhausting and unpredictable.

"I summoned the courage and called Parkinson’s NSW -  I never imagined how much my life could change in just under 60 days"

The loneliest moments aren’t in the doctor’s office.

For many people living with Parkinson’s, the hardest moments don’t happen during appointments. They happen in the days and weeks between them.

Mei says 'It was only after visiting Parkinson’s NSW’s website, I realised how much support they offer. As someone who has lived with Parkinson's for six years, I used to feel isolated, depressed, anxious, and hopeless - thanks to Parkinson's NSW, I've transformed into someone willing to try new things and communicate with people."

Parkinson's NSW is there to make sure no one has to navigate Parkinson’s alone, providing trusted information, practical guidance, education, and connection - care that surrounds people throughout their entire journey.

Because Parkinson’s doesn’t pause between appointments. And neither should support.

Your donation makes this support possible.

Please donate today and help us be there for every step of the journey.
